Spring boat building classes begin in March 2012.
Go to Education Page for more information about classes, workshops, & study groups...
the best of the news:
ACMC & boat builders Owen Huffaker & Fred Smith are building two El Toro Sailing Boat; and, one El Toro will remain with our small fleet for members to use! This is our new boatbuilding project for 2012 . We have had the good fortunate to meet some of the people in the local Pelican Fleet, more specifically, Owen Huffaker & Steve Ruhl. Owen has built several Pelicans and he would like to build an El Toro sailboat. In fact, he helped the Smith Brothers build the last El Toro in February 2007. Owen is a new ACMC member and has volunteeded to teach the El Toro classes this Spring. If you wish to build an El Toro...this is your opportunity.
Steve Ruhl is a Pelican sailor and aleady a proud owner of an El Toro sailboat. Recently, Steve attended our lofting class. He has a boathouse & shop on Big Lake; and already, he has invited ACMC members to his place for a summer picnic & sail on the lake. Nice.
If all goes as planned, the first El Toro boat building class is scheduled for early March.
